This book, "treating of the contention between men and beasts," is taken from an encyclopedic work in 51 treatises, produced by the Ikhwān al-ṡafā (Brothers of purity) about 990. It is a standard Hindustan work, which is used as a textbook both in India and England. This translation, adhering closely to the text, has been made to supply a want for those who have to prepare themselves for examination in it.
