The Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: whereas at a public auction or vendue, held in the city of Philadelphia, by order of the Supreme Executive Council aforesaid, on the [blank] day of [blank] for the sale of divers lots and lands lying and being within the said city of Philadelphia, and belonging to the Commonwealth aforesaid; set off and apportioned by the Supreme Executive Council aforesaid, to be sold, pursuant to the directions of an act of the General Assembly of the said Commonwealth, passed the tenth day April 1781, entitled "An act for the better support of public credit, by an immediate sale of the lands therein mentioned, and fully securing the purchasers thereof in their titles; and also for preserving the common lands appurtenant to the city of Philadelphia and other towns in this state from unwarrantable encroachment," and of one other act of the General Assembly aforesaid, passed the eighth day of April 1786, entitled "An act for directing the sale of such of the city lots as remaining property of the state and for disposing of the house and lots in High Street in the city of Philadelphia, late the estate of Joseph Galloway, and forfeited to the Commonwealth. [Blank] bought the lots or piece of land hereinafter described and granted, [blank] for the sum of [blank] lawful money of Pennsylvania, [blank] being the best and highest bidder. ... : To have and to hold the said lot or piece of land hereby granted with the appurtenances, unto the said [blank] and to [blank] heirs and assigns; to the proper use and behoof of the said [blank] heirs and assigns for ever, ... yielding and paying therefor into the treasury of the said Commonwealth ... on the first day of September, in every year hereafter, one acorn ..... - Summary:
- Land patent granted to Ephraim Blaine by the Pennsylvania Supreme Executive Council on October 9, 1787 resulting from the sale of lots lying within the city of Philadelphia on August 25, 1787. The lots were previously part of the estate of Loyalist Joseph Galloway (1731-1803), a Pennsylvania delegate to the First Continental Congress whose estate was subsequently forfeited to the Commonwealth after he became a Loyalist and fled to England. The rent due on the property was one acorn.

- Land patent and deed completed in ms. for Ephraim Blaine Esquire, the successful bidder paying the price of one hundred eighty five pounds for city lots numbered "2222, 2223 and 2224 situate[d] on the south side of Lombard Street and the west side of Eighth Street ... bounded northward ... by ground belonging to Baron Hurst and Company and westward by lot number 2221 sold to Jeremiah Fisher." The recto of document is dated October 9, 1787 and signed by Benjamin Franklin, President of the Supreme Executive Council, as witnessed and signed by James Trimble (1755-1837) for John Armstrong Jun. [Secretary]. A two sided wafered and papered seal of the State of Pennsylvania hangs from an attached ribbon which is inserted through the vellum. The verso of document inscribed in ms. "Patent for Ephraim Blaine Esquire for lots number ....." Another seal, of the Pennsylvania Inrollment Office is affixed on verso to the left of the ms. signature of Mathew Irwin (Master of Rolls) attesting to the recording of this deed in the Rolls Office for the State of Pennsylvania on July 28, 1796.
