Summary:
An earth vessel lands on a remote planet capable of supporting human life. Only one crew member survived the trip, and Carter Horton is alone. The planet is inhabited by a creature called Carnivore (who met an earlier traveler called Shakespeare) and he soon learns both of them are doomed unless they can get away from the strange planet.
