Summary:
Dramatic changes are taking place on global LNG markets which will profoundly impact gas markets. Global LNG supply capacity will gain 50 per cent over the period 2015-20, driven by Australian and US LNG projects. This new supply exceeds the volumes that markets can easily absorb especially as demand growth in Asia-the premium market targeted by these new projects - is weakening. Meanwhile, oil and gas prices have fallen to levels unseen for a decade, threatening the economics of the newest projects under construction and placing a question mark over future projects. As new and existing players challenge the norms of the LNG business in relation to structures, contracts, and prices, this book explains 'how we got to where we are', and why a 'Great Reconfiguration' - toppling 50 years of practice in the LNG business - is coming.
