- 清代著名经学家洪亮吉曾提出藏书有四厄,即水火兵虫,其中"兵"指的就是战乱.抗战八年,随着战火南移,全国各地图书馆及各地藏书家们带着自己的珍藏书籍,随机南移西迁.尤其是各地图书馆,在极度艰苦的条件下,利用山洞,祠庙等地向读者提供借阅服务.抗战结束后,图书馆纷纷迁回原地复馆,部分藏书家也将自己收藏捐交政府部门.在整个流迁过程中,各馆收藏古籍有被焚毀的,比如清华大学图书馆部分藏书;有增加的,比如腾冲县图书馆获赠邓厄赠书;有被日寇掠走的,如天津图书馆所藏古籍.由国家古籍保护中心牵头,以全国各地方图书馆工作者为对象,进行了"抗战古籍保护事例"的征文活动,对全国图书馆在抗战时期流失的古籍进行全面筛查,将征文结集出版.
