Provides introduction to nanotechnology, and examines the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), which coordinates nanotechnology R&D among Federal agencies. Covers possible reauthorization of P.L. 108-153, the 21st Century Nanotechnology Research and Development Act of 2003, to provide legislative foundation for NNI activities, authorize agency funding levels through FY2008, and address other nanotechnology challenges; and reviews appropriations issues. Includes NNI reports and assessments and nanotechnology legislation in the 111th-113th Congresses.
