Describes American Community Survey (ACS), which replaced the decennial census long form by providing for an ongoing sample of the population based on annual survey questionnaires. Explains Bureau of Census reasons for adopting ACS in 2005, and reviews ACS development and implementation. Discusses ACS releases online, determination of questionnaire contents, issues regarding ACS sample size and public perception, and pro/con arguments for testing a mandatory versus voluntary ACS.
