Discusses specifics of the current Federal terrorism insurance program established by P.L. 107-297, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) of 2002, to ensure availability of property and casualty insurance against losses from terrorism. Reviews H.R. 508, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002 Reauthorization Act of 2013, to extend TRIA until 2019; H.R. 1945, the Fostering Resilience to Terrorism Act of 2013, to extend TRIA until 2024; and H.R. 2146, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2013, to extend TRIA until 2024. Discusses extent of TRIA coverage for nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological acts of terrorism. Provides background on terrorism insurance, examines terrorism insurance market, and reviews evolution of terrorism risk insurance laws.
