- Provides overview of Federal response to domestic violence under the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), which assists States in preventing incidents of domestic violence; offers shelter and related assistance to victims of such violence and their dependents; and provides technical assistance and training on domestic violence to State and local government agencies, nonprofit private organizations, and other persons who seek it. Discusses definition, risk factors, profiles of survivors, and effects of domestic violence. Addresses funding; formula grants to States, territories, and tribes; State domestic violence coalitions; national and special issue resource centers; national domestic violence hotline; prevention activities; children and youth exposed to domestic violence; FVPSA interaction with other Federal laws; and Federal coordination.
