Provides overview of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN Act), which requires certain employers to notify workers and local governments of anticipated plant closings and mass layoffs. Discusses covered employers, events, and employees; notification requirements; enforcement and penalties; exceptions that allow for a notice period of less than 60 days; and other special circumstances. Addresses notification of layoffs that do not meet WARN Act criteria, as well as WARN Act notifications and compliance.
