- Examines issues related to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which was established by Title X of P.L. 111- 203, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, known as the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFP Act). Provides overview of regulatory structure of consumer finance under existing Federal law prior to enactment of CFP Act, and examines arguments for modifying the regime in order to more effectively regulate consumer financial markets. Analyzes how CFP Act changes that legal structure, focusing on CFPB organization; entities and activities that fall under CFPB supervisory, enforcement, and rulemaking authorities; CFPB general and specific rulemaking powers and procedures; and the CFPB funding.
