- Summary:
- Explains Federal real property disposal process, which involves sale or transfer of surplus Government land, buildings, and facilities; and discusses some of the factors that have made disposition inefficient and costly. Examines real property legislation introduced in the 111th Congress that would address those problems, including H.R. 1205, the Federal Real Property Disposal Enhancement Act; H.R. 665, the Excess Federal Building and Property Disposal Act; and H.R. 1734, the Civilian Property Realignment Act, all to provide various measures to streamline disposal process and cut costs. Discusses policy options to enhance the disposal process and Congressional oversight.
