- Summary:
- Reviews P.L. 104-204, the Mental Health Parity Act of 1996, and P.L. 110-343, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, which together created Federal mental health parity requirements until recently. Examines mental health parity provisions of P.L. 111-148, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA), which expand the reach of the applicability of Federal mental health parity requirements previously enacted; and create a mandated benefit for the coverage of certain mental health and substance abuse disorder services in a number of specific financing arrangements. Analyzes impact of PPACA on existing small employer exemption under Federal mental health parity law.
