Summary:
Updated U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom report criticizing initiative by Organization of the Islamic Conference member countries to promote UN resolutions calling for laws against so-called "defamation of religions," arguing that such resolutions provide a justification for governments to restrict religious freedom and free expression and provide international legitimacy for existing national laws that punish blasphemy or otherwise ban criticism of a religion, which often have resulted in gross human rights violations.
