Summary:
Examines issues surrounding use of antibiotics in agriculture, in light of concerns in medical field about increase in antibiotic resistance among sick patients. Summarizes legislation proposed in the 111th Congress to phase out the nontherapeutic use in food animals of certain antibiotic drugs that are also used to treat or prevent diseases and infections in humans.
