- Reviews legislative proposals to extend permanent normal trade relations to Ukraine, in light of recent "Orange Revolution" in Ukraine that led to election of current government under President Viktor Yushchenko. Examines issue of repealing or removing freedom of emigration requirements contained in the Jackson-Vanik amendment to the Trade Act of 1974, in order to allow the President to extend unconditional nondiscriminatory treatment to trade with Ukraine, and discusses U.S.-Ukrainian economic ties.
