Discusses issues related to Government outreach efforts on behalf of a temporary program established under the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 which requires HHS to endorse certain private sector prescription drug discount card programs. Reviews discount card program enrollment challenges and current program enrollment. Provides background on earlier Medicare beneficiary outreach and education programs.
