Summary:
Examines proposals to revise the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which provides Department of Education grants to State and local agencies for the education of children with disabilities. Discusses selected changes that House- and Senate-passed versions of H.R. 1350 would make to IDEA allocation formula provisions, State and local eligibility, evaluations and individualized education programs, procedural safeguards, oversight and administrative provisions, preschool and infants and toddlers programs, the establishment of the National Center for Special Education Research, and amendments to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
