Note.--It is the common superstition among the Irish peasants that the person who has sufficient courage to sleep within the charmed precincts of a "Fairy Circle," will dream of the whereabouts of some rich and deeply buried treasure. These "Fairy Circles" are strange freaks of nature, perfect illustrations of their name, as accurately as if outlined by a mathematical hand. Shakspere, in his exquisite play of "The Tempest,' alludes to these Fairy Trysting Places and their occupiers, thus: "You dewy puppets That by the moonshine do their green sour ringlets make Whereof the ewe not bites."
