Biography/History:
Durant was a Pulitzer Prize winning historian and philosopher. His wife Ariel Durant (1898-1981) collaborated on Durant's eleven volume work the Story of civilization.
Summary:
Comprises four personal signed letters from Will and Ariel Durant to Richard Crooks and his wife Mildred spanning the years from 1961 to 1975. The first letter dated February 14, 1961, is to tenor Richard Crooks (1900-1972) from Ariel Durant and mentions proofreading the work "the Age of reason begins." The second letter from is from Will and Ariel Durant to Richard and Mildred Crooks dated March 12, 1964. The third and fourth letters with envelopes are dated December 19, 1974 and December 16, 1975 and are from Will and Ariel Durant to Mildred Crooks regarding Richard Crooks.
