- 任昉历官宋齐梁三代,少年聪而好学,十几岁时就为当时社会名流褚渊,刘秉等所钦重.入齐后得到王俭的赏识提拔,后又为竟陵王萧子良记室,为'竟陵八友'之一.入梁曾任吏部郎,御史中丞,秘书监,并两任郡守.在文学创作上,任昉和'一代词宗'沈约齐名,有'任笔沈诗'之称.任昉擅长载笔,当时王公表奏莫不请焉.其诗作被钟嵘定为中品,时人效之,影响较大."文选"收录了十九篇,在全数量上居第六位,其中非诗作品居第一位.
