- Presented to the Penn Libraries by Dr. J.M. Thomas (possibly to be identified with Joseph Miller Thomas, 1898-1979, who received his doctorate from Penn in 1923), probably on 11 September 1923 (accessioned 1931).
- Penn Libraries copy has laid in two letters concerning the identification of these leaves, both on letterhead of the University of Pennsylvania Law School: one in ms. dated 14 October 1931 from Francis S. Philbrick to Clifford B. Clapp (1881-1969), which refers to "the problem of the sheets attached to the Latin edition of the Bible sent by you to my office", and one in typescript dated 14 October 1931 from John Dickinson (with his signature provided in ms. "per V.B.") to Francis S. Philbrick, which refers to "two fragmentary pages apparently torn from an incunabulum and inserted at the front and rear of an early edition of the Bible." The Bible in question is most likely Testamenti Veteris Biblia Sacra, sive, Libri canonici, priscae Iudaeorum ecclesiae a Deo traditi (Londini: Excudebat Henricus Middletonus [and T. Vautrollier], impensis G.B[ishop], MDLXXX [1580]; STC (2nd ed.) 2056.4), now housed separately under call number BS90 1580. This item was presented to the Penn Libraries on 11 September 1923 by Dr. J.M. Thomas and accessioned 10 December 1931. The volume is 23 cm in height and the binding ca. 41 cm from the fore-edge of the left board to the fore-edge of the right board; it has been rebacked and provided with modern endpapers.
