Summary:
A successful musician in the early 19th century, Giovanni Simone Mayr composed the opera Medea in Corinto in 1813, the same year it premiered at the San Carlo theatre in Naples. The two-act tragedy with libretto by Felice Romani was Mayr's most popular theatrical work. The story is that of the Greek myth of Medea.
