This encyclopedia is based on the Korean-language editions of the Encyclopedia of Korean folk beliefs (total of six volumes) published from 2010 to 2012 which consist of three subjects: shamanism, village gods worship and household gods worship respectively. It was translated into English after summarizing the Korean version and reediting for foreigners' effortless understanding, since the 'Korean folk beliefs' is somewhat abstract and difficult subject matter to comprehend if not studied in depth. Cf. National Folk Museum of Korea website.
