- Summary:
- This volume derives from a conference held in March 1985 co-sponsored by the Tectonic and Metamorphic Studies Groups of the Geological Society and WG4 of the International Lithosphere Programme. After a review of BGS work in the Outer Hebrides there are sections dealing with aspects of the petrology, geochemistry and petrogenesis of Lewisian rocks, and on structural aspects and geophysical applications. A wider view is taken of the Lewisian as an example of an early Precambrian high-grade terrain, and the last six papers are included to make comparisons with allied terrains elsewhere.
