Red paper-covered volume, probably from London, England, containing chiefly culinary recipes with "M. A. Inglis 1833" written on the inside front cover. The items in the volume span the years from 1833 to 1866. The volume appears to be written in two hands with many recipes bearing the initials A. L. There are recipes for puddings, cakes, fruit preserves, jellies, breads, meat dishes, curried dishes, and desserts. Included in the volume are medicinal prescriptions for coughs, cholera, and rheumatism. "Treatment of infants" attributed to surgeon Joshua Waddington is on two pages. In addition are formulas for toiletry items, for example, tooth powder. Included are some recipes for cleaning furniture and household items such as, permanent ink. There are instructions joining glass attributed to Scientific American. Two items have been laid in the volume. One is a portion of a prescription from chemist T. Curtis of London. The other item is a bifolium with recipes chiefly for meat dishes.
