Milton Collection copy has dated 19th-century ms. inscription ("Sans Souci Paradise lost is life to me Since I love, loves me not. Paradise regained my life might be Could that loved on[e] be forgot. July, 1876") in pencil on front free endpaper; ms. inscription ("Did I speak of life as Eden lost Because of unrequited love [...]"), partially effaced and illegible, in pencil on blank leaf preceding title leaf.
