- After achieving independence on January 4, 1948, Burma kept in place prior law enacted during colonial times. All laws continue to be enforced until amended or repealed.
- Annual cumulations are sporadic.
- Some acts issued revised.
- The British-era legislature ceased to function during 1941-1945, and was only briefly restored after the war. There was a retroactive reprinting of all of the Governor's Acts for Burma issued from Calcutta during the Japanese occupation of Burma during WWII under the title: Government of Burma compendium of governor's acts, published in India, 1942-45.
