Summary:
This small collection comprises fourteen annual reports written by Harrison, New Jersey, health officer and inspector John T. McClure addressed to the Harrison Board of Heath. The reports were written for the years 1898 to 1914 beginning in January 1899. Annual Reports for the years 1907, 1910, and 1911 are lacking. McClure provided statistics to the Board of Health in handwritten reports on all aspects regarding the health and well being of Harrison, Hudson County, New Jersey. Included in the yearly account are the number of cases for disease such as diphtheria, croup, scarlet fever, typhoid, meningitis, etc. The number of quarantines, illegal dumps, sewage problems, water issues, food spoilages, dead animals, and complaints were all included in the report concluding with recommendations by McClure to the Board of Health. The reports for 1905, 1908, 1912 to 1914 are typed. The 1909 annual report was written by Margaret McClure, wife of John T. McClure.
