- Notes:
- A miniature folding book, known as a leporello. with images on small circular paper discs once mounted on a ribbon and hinged together to form a continuous strip.
- Consists of a total of [89] numbered engraved paper discs with images depicting events from the life of Napoleon on recto and descriptive letterpress on verso which corresponds to a numbered medallion image when the set is folded in accordion-style. The 88 paper image medallions are preceded by an engraved title disc.
- Sold as a souvenir upon the occasion of the return of Napoleon's ashes to Paris after his initial burial on St. Helena.
- Date of issue supplied from the last letterpress medallion (#88) which describes Napoleon's tomb as found on Feb. 6, 1841.
- The set of paper medallions are housed in a round green decorated papier-mâché lidded box (81mm diameter) embossed in gilt with bee design, and decorative gilt 'N' on lower cover, with metal rim and with central gilt medallion portrait of Napoleon mounted on upper cover, and with a gilt medallion, obverse and reverse, mounted to the exterior and interior of lid. The papier-mâché case itself is housed within another cardboard case with lid (90mm diameter) bearing a label bearing the same printed image and title as found on the engraved title disc.
