Summary:
We need to re-learn to think about ... space. This demand of the social anthropologist Marc Auge became the programmatic statement of what later came to be known as the spatial turn, which met with varied responses in the cultural sciences. Systematic theology, however, has hardly responded at all. While it has reflected at length on the category of time, space has virtually been neglected. The present study therefore attempts to develop a genuinely theological concept of space in dialogue with the cultural sciences, philosophy and theological tradition.
