Summary:
Summer, 2004: In Arizona, grassroots opponents of comprehensive immigration reform launch a wildly popular ballot initiative, PROTECT ARIZONA NOW. Alfredo Gutierrez, legendary ex-politician and radio host, is galvanized to try to beat it. Eventually national groups realize: if things go badly in Arizona, they will surely go worse in Washington. A coalition of Latino grassroots, labor, business and Republican political operatives takes shape.
