- Summary:
- "In this book the author intends to give a summarized account of the most important work on child psychology. A vast amount of careful research on the problems and the progress of development has been undertaken and much valuable data obtained. Psychological studies and findings have had a tremendous effect on education and the companion volume on educational psychology will-give a full account of this development. We can also now pride ourselves on the fact that we know something about the inner levels of the mind as well as the outer. We know not only when a child is likely to talk, but also something about the way he is likely to think and feel. This is, of course, extremely important, and though in this sphere we may often have to deal with hypotheses rather than facts, evidence is accumulating of the immense influence of the unconscious mind on conscious actions and behaviour. The author has also attempted to outline in non-technical language the most important findings of the psycho-analytic school"--Introduction.
