- Binding: leather binding; half-morocco cover sample mounted to rear pastedown, with matching spine sample hinged at right edge. Two spine samples, one leather and one cloth, mounted to front pastedown.

Rear free endpaper has copy of recommendation from faculty of Bates College (M.E.), dated 1880, mounted to recto.
