Canvassing book consisting of specimen leaves and illustrations; full broadside prospectus; additional leaf (printed in red and signed by Henry Bill Publishing Co.) advertising a steel engraving entitled "Lincoln at Home" to be given to subscribers of the work; preprinted subscription order leaves.
Binding: leather binding; half-morocco cover sample mounted to rear pastedown, with matching spine sample hinged at right edge. Two spine samples, one leather and one cloth, mounted to front pastedown.

Zinman 152a has newspaper clipping entitled "The Book Business in Norwich" regarding the Henry Bill Publishing Company mounted to verso of first free endpaper; subscription order leaves contain the names and occupations of 70 subscribers, primarily from Norwich, CT, and Lewiston, ME, with binding preferences. Rear free endpaper has copy of recommendation from faculty of Bates College (M.E.), dated 1880, mounted to recto.
