Furness copy has early ms. notes, manicules and underlines in brown and black ink (in more than one hand?) in text; a few early ms. corrections to index; a few early ms. pen tests on blank leaf preceding title leaf; early ms. notes in brown ink on verso of last printed leaf and verso of following leaf and early ms. notes in black and brown ink on leaf following last printed leaf; various early ms. inscriptions, numerals and pen tests on verso of last blank leaf in volume..

Furness copy has on last blank leaf in volume early ms. transcription of 6 lines from Thomas Tusser's Five hundred points of good husbandry (no. 103), followed by ms. transcription ("Fronte capilata [sic] post est occasio calua") of an aphorism from the Catonis disticha.

Furness copy has partially illegible dated 16th-century 7-line ms. ownership inscription ("Guilielmus Drakfordus me[?] sus[?] / cepit legendu[m] decimo[?] septimo[?] / Septemb. v[idelicet] die veneris [...] / A[nn]o[?] Sextilis Anno ab vrbe condito[?] / Anno d[omi]ni 1578; / Aetatis suae vndeuicessimo / Regni d[omi]ne E. Regine virissime[?]") of William Drakford at head of blank leaf preceding title leaf. This inscription is followed by a largely illegible 3-line ms. inscription that begins: "Idem suscepit me ..."

Furness copy has partially illegible early 3-line ms. ownership inscription ("Jacobus me suscepit [...] / xiiijo februarij anno [...] / Incepit susce[...] [...]") at foot of blank leaf preceding title leaf.

Furness copy has on title leaf dated 17th-century ms. ownership inscription ("W Drakeforde de Newe Inne me possidet / [...]ipt[?] 5o Junii 1622 20 [...]") and on verso of last blank leaf in volume early ms. ownership inscription ("Guilielmus Drakeforde de nouo / Hospitio London me niue[?] possid") of William Drakeforde (probably not to be identified with the William Drakford of the 1578 ms. inscription).

Furness copy bound in contemporary full paneled calf; blind-stamped ornament in center of each board; 4 raised bands on spine; blind-tooled spine panels; portion of early parchment leaf with Latin ms. used as binder's waste.
