- 本书讲述了20世纪80年代以来, 中国经历了持续偏高的出生性别比. 伴随着1980年出生队列的过剩男性逐步进入婚姻和生育年龄, 中国农村地区的婚姻挤压和男性成婚困难问题逐渐出现并引起社会各界的关注. 在普婚文化下, 女性的短缺不但不会降低男性对婚姻的强烈需求, 反而可能进一步加剧男性之间就女性可婚资源的竞争, 并进一步引发一系列的人口、社会和安全问题. 因此性别结构失衡和农村男性的婚配问题是促进人口和社会可持续发展、构建和谐社会过程中亟待解决的问题, 相应的理论研究和政策干预是迫切需要的.
