- When a secret archive of the Guatemalan National Police is uncovered, Ana Lucía Cuevas, who with other members of her family was forced into exile during the Guatemalan civil war of 1960-1996, returns to Guatemala to try to learn more about the disappearance of her brother, Carlos Ernesto Cuevas Molina. Cuevas describes the struggles and deaths of Carlos and others in her family and portrays some of the history of the war, including the role of the United States in suppressing the insurgents.
