Summary:
In recent decades the conceptualization of space and place as social constructs, rather than static settings, has received significant attention and has been re-evaluated with an emphasis on cultural, social and political practice. The study of spatial practices interrogates human action in a variety of spaces, human agency in the production of space, and space in its capacity to prompt human action. This volume focuses on such interrelations of space and human agency in medieval and modern culture from a variety of angles, such as literature, philosophy, architecture, art, and city planning Book jacket.
