Trego was a clairvoyant and trance medium, who traveled to many cities providing lectures on the subject. She was born in Bucks county Pennsylvania and in 1841 married portrait painter Jonathan K. Trego (1817-1901). The couple had four children: Dr. Edwin Horace Trego (1850-1877); Anna Louisa Trego (1852-1939); William Brooke Thomas Trego (1858-1909) who was an American painter; and Benjamin Thomas Trego (1861-1933).
Summary:
Comprises one leaf with a pencil drawing at the top and prose in ink at the bottom. Trego created this image while in a hypnotic state or trance. Drawings created under an altered state of consciousness is also known as automatic drawing. The resulting image resembles undulating plants with many fine branches of assorted flora. The bottom portion of the leaf contains spiritual prose tracing the path a woman's life, possibly Trego's. Words in the verse have been enumerated above from one through thirty-two with number two lacking. These numerals correspond to small numbers in ink written on the drawing numbered one through thirty-two connecting the drawing to the prose. The leaf is signed E. R. T. Trego, August 4, 1868. On the verso is Trego's address in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
