Summary:
Manuscript contains two upaniṣads. The first, Aitareyopaniṣad, is a late Vedic philosophical treatise appended to the Ṛgveda; as a Upaniṣad, it contains speculations about the nature of being, the self, birth, and breath; also early myths. The second, Rāmatāpanīyopaniṣad, is a quasi-philosophical, post-Vedic work, styled after a traditional upaniṣad. The work glorifies and compares the Hindu epic hero Rāma to the ultimate principles and highest realities in the universe and draws from the mythology of the Rāmāyaṇa.
