- Summary:
- CT imaging has become a mainstay of medical imaging. After 30 years, this is a mature technology but the accumulation of innovations over the past decades have given it extraordinary capabilities and new applications continue to emerge. In this book, the authors use early CT technology to explain the fundamentals of CT imaging and then build on that base to explain how innovation such as slip-ring and multidetector arrays allow for rapid, high resolution imaging. Complex applications such as CT cardiac imaging and dual-source dual-energy CT scanning are covered as well as the pitfalls and artifacts that will be encountered in clinical practice. The book also includes chapters on the language or radiation dose and strategies for does reduction that are essential for optimal CT imaging and patient safety. CT Imaging is an ideal companion for imagers and CT technologists looking to better their understanding of the capabilities of modern multidector CT scanners, as well as trainees taking Practical Radiology Physics courses and preparing for examinations.
