- Summary:
- Tis interesting work on the history of design examines the development of IBM into the computer and industrial design powerhouse from the 1950s to the 1980s. The work discusses the ways in which the firm changed the face of modern design practices by drawing the best minds of the era, from a variety of fields not traditionally associated with business machine manufacturing, into an integrated process of information, ergonomics, and functionality. The work includes numerous illustrations, technical drawings, and reproductions of advertisements, several in color. Harwood is a professor of art at Oberlin College.
