- Torrentius is door het Haarlemse stadsbestuur vervolgd, de Haarlemse rechtbank veroordeelde hem tot twintig haar gevangenisstraf, van de Broederschap van de Rozenkruisers zou hij een van de leiders zijn geweest en naarsommigen beweerden was hij ook de kwade genius achter de muiterij en moordpartij op Batavia. Er resteert weinig van hem: een schilderij in het Rijksmuseum van Amsterdam en wat documenten, waaronder zijn procesdossier in het Noord-Hollands Archief.0Dit boek van Wim Cerutti geeft een fraai inzicht in het vermeende brein achter de gruwelijke gebeurtenissen in de zomer van 1629. Het laat de lezer kennismaken met een getalenteerd schilder met bijzondere opvattingen.
