Summary:
The great Renata Scotto gives a spellbinding performance as the legendary actress of the title. With all of France at her feet, she has doubts about the faithfulness of her lover, the handsome military hero Maurizio (Neil Shicoff). To aid his claim for the Saxon throne, Maurizio has been paying court to the Princess di Bouillon (Viorica Cortez). Emotions erupt at a party given by the Princess when Adriana publicly accuses her of adultery. But the Princess gets even by sending Adriana a bouquet of poisoned flowers. The great baritone Mario Sereni is Michonnet, the faithful friend and theater director who is hopelessly in love with Adriana.
Contents:
Michonnet, della biacca!
Il principe di Bouillon, e l'Abate di Chazeuil
Del sultano Amuratte ; Io son l'umile ancella
E che cercate voi?
Eccoci soli, alfin! Adriana!
Adriana! Maurizio! La dolcissima effigie sorridente
Parliam di cosa lieta
Or dunque, Abate? Un gaio festino
Ecco il monologo
Dov'è dunque il biglietto di Zatima?
Acerba voluttà, dolce tortura
Principessa
Finalmente!
L'anima ho stanca
Amore è fiamma
Vi cogliam, Conte, sul fatto
Ma, dunque, è vero? No! No! Che giova?
Signor Abate, cortese siate
E bene? Che granchio!
Sia! Non risponde
Sì, con l'ansia, con l'impeto ardente di chi sente
Eh via! Così non va
Sempre la prima
Grazie!
Il Conte di Sassonia!
Il russo Mèncikoff
Ballet (Danza d'amorini): Dormi, dormi, o pastorello!
Ballet: Andante sostenuto
È quella dama al certo!
Giusto Cielo! che feci in tal giorno?
Preludio
So ch'ella dorme
Amico mio! Figliuola!
Lieta sorpresa!
Una volta c'era un Principe
Poveri fiori
T'inganni, Non è finito tutto.
No, la mia fronte
Che? tu tremi ; Ove, dunque, son io?
Scostatevi, profani!
