Summary:
A remarkable cast brings Donizetti's comedy to life: star soprano Diana Damrau is the orphan girl Marie, found as an infant by French soldiers and raised as if she were their own daughter. Bel canto sensation Juan Diego Flórez plays Tonio, the Tyrolean lad she falls in love with. And the great Kiri Te Kanawa makes a guest appearance in the speaking role of the Duchess of Krakenthorp. With vocal fireworks--including nine high Cs in a row for the tenor--and a plot that mixes hilarious complications with virtuoso slapstick, this is operatic comedy at its best.
Contents:
Overture
L'ennemi s'avance
Sainte Madone!
Pour une femme de mon nom
Dialogue: Ah, mon Dieu, aidez-moi!
La voilà! la voilà
Au bruit de la guerre

Allons, allons, march', march'
Chacun le sait, chacun le dit
C'est l'instant de l'appel!
Dès que l'appelsonne
Dialogue: Ils l'ont emmené
Quoi! vous m'aimez?
De cet aveu si tendre
Dialogue: Ah, non! Encore ce tyrolien!
Rataplan, rataplan, rataplan
Ah! mes amis, quel jour de fête!
La camarade est amoureux
Que dire, que faire?
Pour mon ḿe, quel destin!
Je suis soldat
Il faut partir
Ah! Si vous nous quittez
Entr'acte
Ginestera: "Canción al Arbol del Olvido"
Dialogue: Bonjour Aimée
Le jour naissait dans le bocage
Ah ma foi j'y renonce
Dialogue: C'est votre faute, Sulpice!
C'en est donc fait
Par le rang et par l'opulence
Pour ce contrat fatal
Salut à la France!
Dialogue: Les chants patriotiques
Tous les trois reunis
Qu'est-ce que c'est
Pour me rapprocher
Dialogue: J'espère, au moins, que cet amour
Je n'y arriverai jamais
Mais, ô ciel!
Quand le destin, au milieu de la guerre
Salut à la France!
