- For an entire generation, Zinka Milanov was the Verdi soprano, and this broadcast of one of her greatest roles shows why. Her enormous, dark, rich voice was even from top to bottom, and she could unfurl it dramatically to soar over orchestra and chorus, or scale it back to a haunting whisper. Richard Tucker plays the man who loves her, and Leonard Warren is her brother, who is so consumed with the desire for vengeance that he wants to kill them both.
