"This account of Frederic W. Goudy's career was written originally at the request of J. L. Frazier of the Inland Printer, Chicago, and printed serially in that magazine during the Winter 1933-1934. It was reprinted by permission (with a number of revisions by the author) in an edition of 300 copies to celebrate Mr. Goudy's seventy-fourth birthday, March 8, 1939. It is again reprinted during the Goudy Centennial, 1965, for the many friends of F. W. G. - it was his favorite biography."--Introductory Note.
