Kislak Collection copy has early ms. manicule in brown ink in tail margin of leaf a3v; a few early ms. marginal marks in brown ink in text; early ms. correction to text in brown ink on leaf a8r; ms. inscription ("WMAH") in pencil on front pastedown; ms. inscription ("obb J[?]W.R. Kislak Collection copy has dated 19th-century ms. ownership inscription ("Ex libris Caroli Short Mense Dec. MDCCCLXIII") of a Charles Short, possibly the classicist Charles Short (1821-1886), president of Kenyon College and subsequently professor of Latin at Columbia University.
Kislak Collection copy bound in full brown leather; boards double-ruled in blind; 5 raised bands on spine; gold-ruled spine panels; 3 gold-stamped black leather spine labels, 1 with title ("G. IULII CESARIS COMMENTA"), 1 with place and date of imprint (detached) and 1 with partial shelf-mark (detached). Spine damaged; boards damaged at corners.
Kislak Collection copy: leaf x5 torn near inner margin with minor damage to text (particularly on verso, which shows evidence of a repair attempt); hole and tear in leaf x6 near inner margin (mended with a blank leaf on verso) with some loss of text.
Kislak Collection copy has a few pinpoint wormholes in upper portion of leaves a1-e5; small wormholes in inner margin of many leaves; leaves dampstained at inner margin.
