Principally late 16th- to early 17th-century chamber music for strings, winds, and continuo by Italian court composers to Holy Roman Emperors Ferdinand II (1578-1637) and III (1608-1657); the 3rd work originally a 5-voice Latin motet, arr. for 2 "mute cornetts," 3 trombones and continuo; the 11th work an accompanied madrigal by Monteverdi (bk. 8, no. 1).
