Completely engraved, with portraits of Zeno, Democritus, Heraclitus, Thales, Empedocles, Plato and Aristotle, most plates signed by Giacomo Piccini. Cf. Thieme-Becker XXVI, 581.

Arms of Scipione Pannocchieschi d'Elci (1600-1670) on leaf 1, followed by a dedication to him on leaf 2, which reads: Illustrissimo et reverendissimo D.D. Scipioni ex Comitibus Ilcii archiepiscopo Pisano, insularum Corsicae et Sardiniae primati &c sanctissimi domini nostri Innocentii decimi praelato assistenti, ac in toto serenissimo Venetorum dominio nuntio apostolico.

Penn Libraries copy has on front pastedown round bookplate printed with the arms of an unidentified bishop (possibly from Germany or Scandinavia). The arms are parted quarterly (1 & 4: or, a cedar[?]; 2 & 3: gules, a fleur de lis) with a heart (gules, a lion rampant contourné with a tower between its paws).

Penn Libraries copy has affixed verso of last plate a small paper slip printed with the arms (azure, on a crown a demi-wolf rampant pierced through the mouth by an arrow) of an unidentified count.
